Meet Shane Ammerman
Shane’s life was shaped early by hardship, responsibility, and faith. What started as protecting those closest to him became a lifelong commitment. To him, there is no higher calling than standing in the gap and protecting others when it matters most.
Who Is Shane?
Shane Ammerman is a sought-after leader in armed security, a recognized thought leader, and a speaker known for his real-world experience, conviction, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. His path was not chosen lightly. It was forged early in life, when as a child he stepped into the role of protector, defending his siblings in an abusive home. That instinct to stand in the gap became the foundation of both his life and his work.
What began as survival became purpose. That purpose led to the founding of HCCI Protection, a trusted Denver-based security firm serving Colorado’s private security landscape and beyond.
Under his leadership and guidance, HCCI Professional Protective Services, LLC stands proudly as a beacon of honor, courage, commitment, and integrity, delivering protection that leads as much as it defends.
Shane's Story
Shane didn’t follow a path—he broke chains to create his own. What started as a bold dream of building HCCI Security has grown into a thriving family of companies, built on resilience, vision, and relentless determination. The Early YEars
Breaking The Mold
At 16, as a sophomore in high school, I balanced school and a job at a grocery store. I also served as a cadet and officer in my high school’s NJROTC program, which gave me structure, purpose, and a clear sense that protection, in all its forms, would be my life’s work.
At 17, as a junior, I met my high school sweetheart, Keely. Nine months later, she was diagnosed with cancer. I helped her through that season, getting her to and from treatments 3.5 hours away while balancing high school and a job.
After high school, my plans shifted while Keely was battling cancer. I put off enlisting in the Marines to see her through that journey. I eventually joined the USMC as an E2, though my time was cut short by injury.
Forged In Tragedy
While Keely's cancer was in remission, we moved to Wyoming in 2012, got married, and started our family with our two boys in 2013 and 2014. I supported Keely through nursing school while we built our life, raising our sons, managing a small property, and launching a veteran-run trucking company.
In 2017, Keely’s cancer returned after only a year of working as a nurse in Buffalo, Wyoming. Practically overnight, we were forced to move our family to Denver. We fought for more time together and for the stability of our family.
Keely passed away on Christmas in 2021 after four and a half courageous years. I founded this company to change the security industry and help build safer communities, to be for others what I did not have.
Her strength through it all changed me and inspired me to build something lasting, a legacy that could serve others in their most vulnerable moments.
The Vision Takes Shape
HCCI was born during Keely's battle, once I brought together the skills I gained from a life of protecting others and built a company that puts people first. I have been privileged to train and work alongside professionals from agencies across the country, including Colorado State Troopers, Border Patrol, federal agencies, SWAT teams, as well as local and state law enforcement.

HCCI now serves schools, synagogues, community organizations, VIPs, and businesses throughout the Denver Metro area. We are the state’s leading expert in protecting Jewish communities. We have apprehended murderers in active shooter situations, worked in active shooter prevention, and stepped in to protect at-risk communities when there were no other options.
We have earned trust not through headlines, but
through consistency, courage, and showing up when it counts. Our core values of Honor, Courage, Commitment, and Integrity are not slogans. They are the way we lead, train, and serve.
Legacy in Motion
Outside of work, I am a father first. I am remarried to a widowed woman, Heather, and in addition to my two boys I now have three more wonderful children. My wife and all of our children are the center of my world and every decision I make, professionally and personally, is shaped by my commitment to them.
I spend my time outdoors when possible, riding a motorcycle when the weather permits, tackling home projects, teaching others the tools they need to feel safe and confident in uncertain times, and working to build a security company that becomes the number one company in the nation for building safer communities and protecting life.
I didn’t set out to build a company. I set out to protect people.
HCCI is the result of that calling, forged through a lifetime of standing in the gap for others to protect life when it matters most. It is a place where we do the work quietly, ethically, and always with heart.
